Just remind me when babies get more interesting?

DS is 6 weeks. I realise that for some people the answer may be 'never'! But when do babies start to stay happily awake a bit more (i.e not awake to JUST feed or grizzle or sort of stare vacantly about!) and generally be a bit more interactive!? I have a dd aged 3 but have developed insomnia about every part of her time as a baby so can't remember a thing about when she did a,b or c!

Do you mean 'amnesia'?

Although if she wasn't a great sleeper as a baby......

fordfiesta · 03/03/2008 17:35

i remember that feeling....... think ds was about 3 months before he really started interacting...... (in a baby sort of way)

i remember 3 months to 6 months being quite a nice patch - more predictable pattern but more going on etc.

also 18 months was a lovely time.

unfortunately in between those two it was pants! not boring though...

We've all been there!

Thank heavens for this thread. My DS is 5 weeks old and I've been thinking the same thing but then feeling really guilty for not basking in the glow of motherhood.

It feels like apart from feeding and changing, you spend your time going from one crying episode to another trying to figure out what might be upsetting them. I know obviously it will change over time but at the moment it feels like it will be like this forever...

12 weeks is abit easier, then 6 - 8 months.

From 8 months with DS1 I found it hard work until he walked when he was 15 months. DS2 is now 9mo and is going through a rough patch too. Only 6 months until he gets easier again

kellyannlondon - I feel exactly the same I spend my whole day trying to avoid DS2 crying. It does get easier though.
