Daughter not well? maybe ear infection what to do?

My daughter has come down with temputure and not herself for past 3 days, took her to doctors and she has full check over and they said viral infection as there's nothing to pinpoint, today she's started holding her ears and hitting her head with her hand, she's just not herself and very wingy and clingy. My daughter is very active and outgoing but she's not even doing that. They have told me to keep her on calpol and nurofen on 5 days course of it which ends tomorrow.

I thinking she has ear infection now, is there anything i can do at home to help
prevent it anymore? any tips or advice please. If she still same by monday we have to take her back.

Thanks

Sounds like you may be right. When my two were around that age they would start off with "nothing to show" to a gp and it would become an ear infection a day or two after.

Have you got an out of hours doctor near you that you could visit tomorrow? If it's an ear infection she'll need antibiotics. I would keep her on calpol until you can see a medical professional but she'll need antibiotics pretty quickly, maybe you may have to contact 111 tomorrow to see if they can advise where she can be seen. Wish her well soon

Keep the Calpol and ibuprofen going, fluids, rest, and GP first thing.

I'd ring 111 if you haven't already Flowers

Take her to a walk in asap. Ring 111 they will arrange an appointment. Viral infections can lead to bacterial ear infections and they will be able to check her over for you. This sounds just like what has happened to my DD 3 times now and each time she was given antibiotics to clear it up.

If she is really poorly, you need to take her to be seen today. Call 111 and they'll direct you to the nearest out of hours gp service.

If you can wait to get her seen on Monday, all you can do is keep up fluids and painkillers. You could try a like warm hot water bottle (but you need to be sure it's not too hot!) for her ear. Drinking warm orange squash can often soothe ears too, like a hot water bottle, but for inside.

Plenty of rest and cuddles.

But don't hesitate to get her seen today if you think she needs it.

Hope she feels better soon.

How is she today? For that age I'd definitely get her seen again. Ear infections can get worse very quickly and they are extremely painful for babies and toddlers. Hope she feels better soon x
