8 month old not sleeping in cot?

Hello, after some advice please! So my little one always sleeps in his cot for daytime naps and has always been very good at sleeping in his cot at night! The past two nights he keeps waking up crying every hour so I’ve put him into bed, waited until he’s gone to sleep and then put him back in his cot but he’s waking up again after half an hour. Why is he fine to sleep next to me all of a sudden but not his cot? The other night he rolled into me and cuddled me while he slept which he’s never done before!

Ours get like this when teething

Attachment? Mine has never been a big fan of the cot so I can't comment on that but he went into a very clingy phase at around 8/9 months. I think it's when they realise they are not part of you.

Have you seen the Wonderweeks app? It's quite good for being familiar with developmental leaps and how it affects the baby.

Ohhh definitely second the wonder weeks. Remember there was a period of about two weeks or so and I was like what is going on. Checked the app and it was blocked out red. I think it’s around 29-30 weeks x

@greenmarsupial @PeachesoutinGeorgia ive just looked on the app and we’ve just entered leap 6 today! So that must be what’s going on, it’s just very unusual for him to wake up every hour so I wasn’t sure what’s happening! The blocked out red part was a few weeks ago and he seemed ok then so maybe he’s just catching up. I’ve just put him back into his cot so fingers crossed he stays asleep! I just have really bad anxiety about him sleeping in the bed incase he falls off or something x

Do you have a partner? At 8 months old it’s safe for him to sleep between you and another aware adult (who hasn’t been drinking or smoking), if you’re worried about him falling off.

greenmarsupial · 09/09/2023 00:34

Fingers crossed you get a better night!

I wouldn't be surprised if he is cutting a tooth. Wee soul! This happens to our 17 month old all the time!

@GodspeedJune my partner sleeps in a different room at the moment due to very loud snoring (he’s having an operation soon) so it’s just me in the bed, I did try use pillows to make like a square around him but he’s quite good at getting over things around him even though he can’t crawl yet
