Torn between my kids - advice?

I have a 6 month old currently going through a sleep regression, and my first born is 3 and has recently been having issues at bed time, asking me to stay and lie with him or sleep with him in his bed. This isn't something I'd be against, however right at the same time my husband gets him to bed, I am upstairs breastfeeding the baby and putting her down for the night. Every night before I say good night to him he gets ready for bed and has story time with me, before my husband tucks him in for the night and I go and feed the baby.
Tonight, my son is tired, too hot from the heat, and overstimulated from his first week back at nursery, so he was really upset when I said goodnight and it took a long while for my husband to help him calm down while I went to feed the baby.
Does anyone have any advice? I feel awful leaving him when he gets upset, but I can't be in two places at once.

Either breastfeed in his room or have him upstairs in your bed.

Can't you combine the 2? Cuddle down time means boobies, bedtime stories and bed? Combine it all? Mummy cuddles babies... 1 feeds and you read a book in hushed tones to the other while being snuggled. Bedtime is hard with multiple children, I know this with 3! Xx
