Party bags, siblings too?

DD is turning 5 shortly. We've invited some of her friends for a lunch and play in the garden. V casual, lunch for parents too, chilled about siblings coming along.

But would you provide party bags for siblings or just the birthday girl's friends?

I would provide for siblings - but keep simple a piece of cake and a balloon or similar would do.

How many are we talking? I always try to have extras so I can give them out if I need/want to (like for appropriately aged, polite siblings who clearly would like a bag but wouldn't ask).

OK, I admit it, I'll give it to the rude ones too - but it'll be noted for next year :) I do enjoy doing the party bags though, and I'm sad my kids are too old for them now.

I would. It would be very awkward if a child was included in the party but not given a party bag when others are

Just cake.

I wouldn't do party bags at all in this situation, completely unnecessary, but if you are going to do them then every child who attends needs one (apart from small babies who won't know or care obviously).

Thanks for all your feedback. I'm not going to know how many siblings there will be until the day (v laid back) so it is tricky to get the balance right. I've got a load of fun felt masks and will have cake (obviously) so maybe I just let them all pick a mask and take some cake home and keep it low key.

Just do cake, party bags are such a waste.

Sounds perfect.

And think how happy the parents will be to not have to go home with bags full of plastic tat that they'll later throw in the bin whilst cursing you/worrying about landfill.

If you're allowing them to attend, I think you should do party bags for them (I bloody hate party bags, but my kids loved them)
