Very short skirt

Have you get any proven techniques to stop my daughter wearing a super short and super tight skirt to school?

I gave her the money to get her own uniform and she had a trying on session which was going very well until she tried her second skirt on.

At the risk of sounding like a 1950s Mum it is tiny!!

I don't want her to attract pervs or horrible comments so I said my god that's short and now she is accusing me of being a non-feminist!!

Am I?

And how do I get her to not wear it??! Argh

What is the school uniform policy ? Surely she’ll be sent home or put in isolation if she breaches it.

I'm torn on this. If it's not against uniform policy then what is the problem?

Are you perpetuating the short skirt =tart idea by stopping our girls wearing short skirts. Why are we dressing for potential perverts?

(My daughter is 7 and I already struggle with policing what she wears.. it will only get worse , I'm sure)

She can and should wear what she likes as long as it doesn't get her into trouble at school.

Creepy pervy men will be creepy and pervy whatever.

You can only try and stop her if she'll get into trouble at school.
Girls have been wearing tiny skirts for school for decades. There are better battles to fight, I think!

She'll just roll up the waistband of a longer one anyway, we did and the girls at the schools near us all do it as well. If she won't take your advice I wouldn't make an issue of it and let the school deal with it.

Did she go to Matalan? Sone of their so called "school" skirts are stretchy mini tubes that scream Saturday night rather than Tuesday morning maths lesson.

Oh, all our girls wear those. Like tight tubes and could not be any shorter.

They all pretty much go about in skirts so short you can practically see their bum.

Until we live in a feminist utopia I reserve the right to police what my pre teen or very young teen wears. She isn’t mature enough to cope with the pervs and nor should she. I protect her from that and explain the context.

How old is your DD?

My DD always wore (skimpy like Nike Pro) shorts under skirts, why she wouldn't just wear slightly longer skirts I don't know.

She does a lot of sport and wandering around in not much clothing is her norm. but she then complains about the cat calling 🙄

I went to school in the 90s, my Mum would drop me off at the gates…I’d then roll my skirt waistband over two or three times, put lipstick on and put in hoop earrings. Some teachers would bollock me, others wouldn’t give a toss. I think wanting to wear a shorter skirt to school is just always something girls will want to do.

The tiny skirts are a bit grim, we all rolled our waistbands up at my school but it is a shame girls are so quick to want to dress sexy. It doesn’t look classy and sadly it does attract attention (both wanted and unwanted).
