15 month old baby walking on his toes

FTM and need some advice.

My son is 15 months old and since he started walking he’s been walking on his toes. We bought different shoes for him and he’s still walking on his toes. I’m a bit worried about it as I saw a teenager boy yesterday in the park who was also walking on his toes.

Do I need to be worried? What do I do/what can I do about it?

Thank you in advance 👍🏻

I've heard that we actually supposed to walk on our toes. It's only shoes that make us walk heel to toe. I would let him walk how he's comfortable. I'm sure lots of people will disagree though.

Try not to worry. My DS is two and has been walking on his tiptoes for ages and it’s only been the last couple of weeks that he’s walking more flat footed. Winter will probably help because I’ve noticed my DS won’t do it if he’s wearing slightly heavier shoes or boots than usual.

I don’t think you should worry, however it’s good to encourage full foot walking as that helps the leg tendons stretch out, and helps further with walking and balance.

My baby stopped tiptoeing when I put him in Bobux shoes, they are slip ons made from very soft leather, with a sturdy but comfortable rubber sole.
