Hi everyone

DD is definitely teething, chewing fist, dribbling and pulling ear and over the past 2 weeks she's refusing to finish her bottle.

She's had 6oz every 4 hours for about 5 weeks and for the past 2 she has 3-4oz and completely refuses the rest.

She's not unwell, normal poos, laughing and smiling all of the time.

She is on Aptamil Pepti 1 for CMPA but has been since she was about 4 weeks old.

What can I do? I'm worried she isn't getting enough fluid. She has the odd sip of cool boiled water and screws her face up and I know she can't have much as it can be dangerous.

Our consultant told us to early wean at 4 months but technically she's not 4 months until 22nd September. I've bought some porridge oats to blend down really fine and was going to just add some puréed banana/other fruit that I can blend down and freeze into little ice cubes.

I would be very cautious weaning so very early. Why did the paediatrician want you to wean at this age? Have you seen the paediatric dietitian yet?

Have you tried going up a teat size or feeding from an open cup?

Hi @Whawillthefuturebring

Due to CMPA the consultant paed is keen for babies under his care to early wean and get on the milk ladder young to try and sort out the intolerance.

I’m wondering exactly what is reason. Both my children have had CMPA and I’ve read a lot of research paper into allergies. I understand doing through the main allergens at 5 months but I haven’t seen anything which suggests weaning at 4 months is a good idea.

CMPA is an allergy not an intolerance. Different reactions by the body.
