My 1 year olds poo colour is black? (PIC included)

Hi,

My daughters bowel movements the last two days have been quite like rabbit droppings but mixed black and her normal colour.

Do I need to ring a GP? She hasn’t eaten anything like blueberries, she usually has a big poo first thing in the morning but this is a quite small amount and I’m slightly concerned with the colour as I read online that it could be internal bleeding so now I’m starting to pull my hair out!

Hope you don’t mind me attaching a photo but just seeing if anyone has experienced the same with their little ones?

Internal bleeding would be black and tar-like rather than solid. To me, it just looks quite constipated.

But if you're worried, it's always better to contact a GP than ask people you don't know on the internet like this. You never know who is replying!

See how she is today and call 111 if she’s not herself/not producing wet nappies, but otherwise I’d just call the GP tomorrow.

But having said that, if it reassures you at all, all three of mine have had poo like that at some stage and it’s always disappeared as quickly as it arrived. Spinach poo sometimes looks a bit like that… has she eaten any leafy greens?

Thank you so much for your reply, yeah you’re right. I’ll call the GP tomorrow and get a bit of advice hopefully it’s nothing ❤️

I'd give her some water rich foods today, things like melon, strawberries, ice lollies, broccoli, cauliflower and jelly and see if that helps her poop Wink
