Freshly potty trained ds - what to do on holiday - transfer to the loo?

I potty trained ds (2.7) over the last few weeks.

He now wears pants (albeit cloth training pants when out - just like normal pants with slight absorbency just in case!) all the time when awake and is very reliably asking for the potty at home. No accidents (TOUCH WOOD) for a while.

He is still a bit reluctant to do poops in the potty though.

Anyway, my questions re the holiday next week are:

-what should I do when he goes swimming - swim nappy still or presumably just trunks?

  • should I try and get him using the loo before then (we leave in 10 days so not long) with a trainer seat I can take
  • if not should I take a little potty with us - and what would we do on the plane? Could be a bit tricky finding room in those tiny plane loos for him to sit on the potty (7hr flight so he will need to go at least once!)

Complication - he is scared at the moment of hand dryers in public loos so might have a strop if he has to do a wee somewhere with one on!

Any general advice welcome on all this!

Why not see if he's happy using the loo - I didn't find DD seemed worried at all by the switch from potty to loo and maybe he'll be fine with it too. None the less if you can fit it in I should take a small potty with you. I also swore by a fold up loo seat thing called a toodle-loo which folds up flat and can be easily carried around. I took it everywhere with me when DD was first potty trained.

By the way we have one of those folding potties but it's not really practical to use it full time for a week as the refills are expensive.

I guess we shall have to try and get him to produce on the loo - he's not keen at the moment though!
