10 month old has a cough

Hey guys, I’ve been unwell with a fever and a bit of a sore throat over the last 3 days and just today I’m starting to get a little better. My 10 month old DS has been absolutely fine but he’s coughing today, and I’m worried. Any advice on what I can do to help him with the cough? Also he just ate some banana half an hour ago and I just breastfed him and he vomited a bit. Only a tiny bit I’m not sure if it was vomit tbh.

I gave him a homemade fresh fruit popsicle today (he doesn’t usually have it) because he’s teething and it was soothing for him. He ate most of it. Could that be why he has a cough now?

I wouldn’t have thought the popsicle would give him a cough, mine were regularly eating things like that from around the same age. If he was coughing then that could of caused him to vomit abit.
Does he have a fever? Does it sound like chesty cough or more like a tickly throat cough?

I do feel like he’s getting a bit of a fever.

I think it sounds like a tickly cough, there’s no mucus

He might of just picked up what you’ve had, if he is running a temp then I’d give him abit of calpol and see how he goes overnight. I’d give him some water as well as this will help keep his throat lubricated.
Just don’t give him any cough medicine, I was advised by a doctor a few years ago that it’s not recommended anymore as it just suppresses the cough and doesn’t help them.
Might sound strange but could also be related to him teething, babies can often have all sorts of symptoms when teething.

I gave him some calpol at 8:30pm. I just woke up and checked baby and he has a high temperature but he’s sleeping peacefully. My thermometer is broken 😫 so I can’t check exactly what his temperature is but it’s definitely high as DS feels so hot 🥺 I don’t know if I should let him sleep or if I should wake him up to give him calpol. I feel like crap right now because I know he’s ill because of me 😭
