Hi everyone my 6 month old has cut 2 bottom teeth and has went off his milk I managed to put couple oz in rusk for breakfast which he loved but I’m really struggling he only had about 17oz in total yesterday and now after a disturbed night he’s only drank 3oz and that was from 9pm when I tried to dream feed him. I’ve tried anbesol Ashton parsons nurofen how long does this tend to last as I’m very scared he’s gonna loose weight and become dehydrated or something.

Hi FTM1333,

I don't have any advice but I have a 6 month old currently teething (can see two bottom teeth are about to cut) & she's driving me bonkers with constant humming sound. My little girl has also had very poor appetite all week - although tonight she ate very well. I've also been very concerned she will loose weight as she normally eats well but has barely ate all week. Curious how long it takes for the teeth to cut? Following to see what other mums say.

Poor wee toot! You could try giving them some milk in a sippy cup, that way he can have some control over it. As long he is having plenty of wet and dirty nappies and is not too lethargic I wouldn’t worry too much about dehydration at this stage. 17oz plus some food in 24 hrs is fine for a 6 month and hopefully it will be short lived :)

Make some ice lollies with squash

Really cold fruit or veg

Put some fruit pouches in the fridge

Cold to numb the gums and also gets some water into them :)

Can you remember how long it took to get back to normal after cutting the teeth? My boy cut his first on Monday and the 2nd on Tuesday night but is still fussy with bottles. This morning he would only have 5oz instead of his usual 8oz.

I just want him to go back to normal! Feeding has been so hard for over 2 weeks now 😔
