Hi

This might sound like a stupid question, but I'm setting up a savings account for my son, and the bank photocopied his birth certificate for their records. Is this a normal procedure? I can't remember the bank ever photocopying anything of mine before.

According to the HSBC website they’ll need a copy of passport, birth certificates (under 18s only), EU EEA national identity card or driving licence, so assuming your son is under 18? Then yes totally normal

Thank you. Yes, he's 1, so that makes complete sense!
