12 week jab & fever, advice please..

Hello everyone FTM here!
My little girl had her 12 week jab today, I was told before hand not to give her any calpol as she wouldn't need it for this vaccination as the fever was more or less for the first set of jabs... anyways, fast forward my babies I took my babes temperature with an ear thermometer and it spiked to 39°c! I couldn't of been more infuriated that they told me she didn't need calpol!
Anyway I gave her some and her temp lowered to 37.5 an hour later (I know that is still classed as a mild fever) but I frequently checked her temp and then switched to my armpit thermometer for her but the battery is low & finally went down to 36.5, I have now checked a couple of hours later and it says 37.1... does she need any calpol now or do I leave her to sleep, she's due another dose in an hour and don't want to wake her!!!

Plus can I have any advice on how to dress her pleeeasse! I just put her short in a vest with a nappy but I'm worried she could get chills also, she usually has a vest and 1 tog Muslim Grobag on, ANY ADVICE will go a long way please as I'm worried sick😓😓

Don't wake her - if she wakes give her another dose then if she can have one etc x
What you have her dressed in seems fine, maybe put a light blanket or sheet over her in case of drafts but don't tuck it in etc x
I'd say by morning she'll be fine but if she's not maybe just ring and check with GP or HV
Mine ALWAYS had a temp after jabs even when they were older so I have Calpol beforehand - some children just react differently to others x
Edited to add hope you manage to get some sleep too.

@Vergeofbreakdown23

Hi! Thankyou for responding hun & atm I'm struggling to keep her in a blanket safely as she's rolling onto her side and wiggles in her sleep quite a lot, too scared of her suffocating, no matter how much I tuck she kicks it off her anyway! Just don't wanna risk the Grobag (even tho it's 1 tog) just incase I overheat her, will she be ok if her temp goes normal in just a vest? My room is currently 21.4°c xx

Yes she'll be fine - if she gets too chilly she'll wake and let you know... It's horrible especially when it's the middle of the night and you just want a sounding board to reassure you x

Please dont put a blanket on a 12 week old baby..

PeopleAreWeird · 31/08/2023 01:44

I would put a pair of thin trousers on her and a short sleeve vest, if she wakes and feels cold, swap it for a long sleeve vest…

kaseymaria · 31/08/2023 01:46

@PeopleAreWeird when did I say I was putting a blanket on her?? I already stated she can't be trusted with once since she's rolling??...

I think that was aimed at what I wrote not you @kaseymaria but as you said she'd rolling so not suitable anyway as you said xx
