I don’t know what to do with our 14 month old today

Do you ever struggle to know where to take your little one? I’m feeling guilty as I’m off today with my DD and I have no clue what to do. And I don’t have any energy either today which probably doesn’t help. I don’t want to drive to the farm again, or go to the park. I can’t face a soft play and have to talk to other parents. I sound awful. I’m usually very proactive and positive but I can’t face doing these things today. I need to go shopping at some point.

What else can I do to make sure she isn’t bored apart from play with her at home and go for a walk, or is that okay? I’m a FTM

It’s fine, little walk, shop, stop off at a cafe? Mine used to love a walk through the market, a look in the pet shop, maybe pop in the library ti read a story, look at pigeons in the square, and a ride on the bus at that age, I’d just chat and point things out. It was lovely to just have a day together, we didn’t always do a structured activity. Don’t think there was a day where we didn’t leave the house though, I couldn’t stay in all day and we don’t have a garden.

We don’t have a garden either which sucks, my little girl loves being outside. I think I’ll just go for a walk with her then and do some shopping!

We all get days like this.

Do the shop & have them help with the housework. They don’t know the difference between a walk around town or a walk around the supermarket.

I couldn’t be bothered to entertain my 1&3 yo boys the other day so I took them clothes shopping for me and to lunch. Longest we’d been out in weeks and they loved it.

OP, don't beat yourself up.

Have you seen the other current thread about people taking their kids to the pub for hours every day of the bank holiday weekend so they can sit and drink?!

You're doing fine. If you don't feel like doing another activity today, then don't. You could just let DC play at home or watch a film if you don't feel like going out. You obviously do enough of a variety of things in general so they're not bored.

Every day life is important to take time for. You could go to the shops buy something to make to eat together. Library? You could clean "together" slow relaxing days at home with cuddles are not to be sniffed at either.

My daughter loves supermarket shopping. Let her hold some of the stuff and try and put it in the trolley (obviously unbreakable stuff). Little potter locally and she'll be happy. If the weather is crap we used to make dens a lot at that age - blanket over the clothes horse and she would crawl it and out and be entertained for hours. No need for fancy days out every day.

Hi @wahmeh
Me and my 10mo DD spent yesterday playing with building bricks and reading books, i actually love the building bricks, i build high towers and my DD loves knocking it down, it was something so simple but was just nice and chilled. Have a nice day xx

Definitely library if you can. Anywhere to feed the ducks? Then maybe let her have some Tupperware and a couple of wooden spoons to play with and then put her in the bath with them! A nice lazy day never hurt anyone and the days do feel never-ending at that age!

Do what you need to do (shopping, chores) and involve her. Then potter at home. Let her play with her toys and in the garden. Maybe do some baking or crafts or something. It's really good to let kids learn how to occupy themselves for a while. I regularly do chilled days where we all recharge at home. I think it's important.
