Primary Vs Secondary

I'm just wondering if I'm being deluded in thinking secondary school will suit DS better than primary.

He's never got on well with primary school, he's "alternative" whilst all the other kids are like clones of each other and whilst the boys at school like football and thats it, DS likes more "Teenagery things" like rock music, "emo clothes", odd hairstyles, music festivals, concerts, computers etc...

I keep telling myself that at secondary school there will be more kids like him, more "emos", more kids that are interested in music, clubs he can join in the lunch hour rather than all being herded outside to play football....

He hates school but is so looking foward to starting secondary...

Are we kidding ourselves that it will suit him better?

whats an emo?

MrsSnape · 01/03/2008 16:49

like a modern version of "goth"

Basically just a kid that likes rock music

That is the way it has worked out for my nephew. He was always a quiet, shy sensitive child, prone to being teased, and by all accounts struggled at primary school.

He is now in secondary and is doing much better. He has found likeminded children and has made friends. (he is also into music and now describes himself as an emo)

I think it is because a secondary school is so much bigger than primary, so there are more children per yeargroup, which means there is a highter chance of meeting like-minded classmates

I am hoping for the same for my ds (I think I posted about him on your other thread)
Ds is now in Y4 and also has trouble fitting in with the football crowd. It is just not 'his thing'. My ds is into acting, making up stories, loves music, but is not too great at sports. (clumsy, heavy footed, two left feet)

So roll on secondary I say, am sure it will be better
