Sleep regression? Please prepare me

My baby is 15 weeks and although I’ve not followed it much the Wonder Weeks app has just popped up and notified me Leap 4 is about to start🙄.
I’ve had quite bad anxiety over my babies sleep since he was born but things have been better lately. Is the 4 month regression really as bad as people say? What should I expect.

My baby doesn’t sleep through, he usually goes down between 7-8pm, bottle between 10-11pm, and then another between 3-4am. He starts stirring around 530/6 but doesn’t cry until 630/7 which is when I will get him up, we did have a few mornings a few weeks ago where he was wide awake at 530 though.
He doesn’t fall asleep on his own yet, most of the time I have to pat him to sleep. Not sure if any of this will make it worse or better.

My little one went through sleep regressions but they didn’t actually change her night sleep. I just found she started going longer between her day naps. The only regression that started to change things for us was when she turned one. She then went through a really difficult phase of sleeping and separation anxiety.

I won’t lie, sleep regressions are hard but it’s not for long and you do get through them.

I’m glad my children were born before the original research on sleep regressions - which was conducted on very small numbers and is of debatable value.
My two slept through the night with their dummies from 8 weeks and 9 weeks respectively, and only had trouble sleeping if teething or unwell. I wonder if warning mothers about “regressions” at set ages simply sets up a self fulfilling prophecy?

Sleep regression? Whatever next.
I trained as a NNEB (.Nursery nurse) and never came across this.
It's a moot subject and debatable.. no 100% evidence.
Why worry about something that probably won't happen.. if your baby suddenly doesn't sleep as well at 4 months and you want to give it a label.. l think it's ridiculous.
We will be having diagnosis next.
There is millions and millions of babies age 4 months and no two are the same.. you do whatever is best for you and your baby.
Both mine went to sleep on the breast .. fed on demand.. when l was too tired my husband would cuddle me and hold my baby to my breast.. l slept when they did.. no matter the time of day or night.
My daughter had 3 sons within 16 months of each other.. all breast fed for a year.. they never had this so called sleep regression.. no sooner had she stopped breast feeding one .. was time to feed another.
I think some parents think too much into things instead of getting on with just being a mum and enjoying it .

This is the exact reason I didn't download this app or follow any 'milestone' books. You're now anxious about something that hasn't happened and might not ever happen!

We never noticed a sleep regression with DD. My NCT friends who were told by the app that they would, all did. (Same for 'your baby will be cranky this week because of XYZ, they were constantly wishing away weeks to get to the end of the cranky phase just because an app told them it was so)

Just go with the flow, don't try and anticipate or worry about what will come. I can guarantee your babies sleep will be up and down, and you'll have hard times and easy times but it's just the way it is x
