20mo DS only wants me

Just a general question - when we visit in laws if I’m there DS only wants me like won’t go to the grandparents. In all fairness he sees them once a week for an hour or few? So knows them but is more comfy with me

But the comments sometimes from MIL “oh he just wants mummy” in a snide remark, are a bit annoying! We’re due DD in a few months so I’m touchy because I think maybe my - still quite young son - has picked up on my pregnancy and also he is so young!

im sure it’s normal to want your mum or dad or just. A parent/parents in general? Ds is more comfy with me and his dad 100% , but also my mum and dad HVe him 1 day a week (as they’re off work) so it saves us childcare costs which is lovely of them and DS does spend more time with them in that sense. So he’s more comfy there

anyone else got little comments like this from in laws?

REALLY normal phase at 20 months. Mine is exactly the same.

It's hard to know what MILs motive is; perhaps she's hurt or perhaps she's just being a bit of a cow... ignore it.

@YouveGotAFastCar yeah she’s quite reserved around me, like was offering DS some chocolate buttons then said “oh your mummies face looks like I shouldn’t give you more” I don’t know how to explain. It she seems to relax more when I’m not there when I’ve heard DH mention times I’ve not went down with him and DS to her house

im taking it as she wishes he’d not want his mum and just want her but also, she’s had 3 kids, surely she remembers this?!! Haha
