What are your favourite stories for your younger children? DS is 4.

Bonus point for stories with hidden messages about how to listen to mummy(!!!!!)

I’ve read all our bedtime stories too many times… We like most of the JD ones, big fan of the ten little series and Pip and Posy. I don’t really like the pooping dinosaur ones but they do the job occasionally. I’m not really a fan of the classics… The Tiger Who Came To Tea, Going on a Bear Hunt, Where The Wild Things Are. Obviously except The Hungry Caterpillar… that’s a lovely one.

He really likes the BFG film and seems enamoured with the silliness so we were thinking of trying him on some Roald Dahl but wasn’t sure if it was too old for him.

There are some lovely Enid Blyton short story collections. We do one little story each night. They're called things like 'Magic and Mischief', 'Wishes and Wonders' etc. Or could try The Wishing Chair, Folk of the Faraway Tree.

Little people big dreams series. We love them our library has quite a few of them if you want to trial them. They work quite well as ebooks which we borrow from the library when we go on holiday to reduce packing demands

The Snail and the Whale. My dd is only 18mo, and clearly doesn't have a frigging clue what's going on in the story, but she gets the book out for me to read about 15 times a day.

We spend a lot of time finding the snail on every page, making relevant noises (the neenaw of the fire engines, that creates much excitement) and I like the story ☺️

I found a toy snail and whale at HUGE cost in Waterstones the other day, so now we act some of it out too, which again is mainly for my benefit to be honest.
