Food for Braces

Hi, my daughter has just had braces put on. It hurts to eat. 😢 She loves food and while it's a good excuse for more discussions around healthy choices (she loves sugary foods), she still needs to enjoy eating. Can you please tell me what foods your children ate. Currently everything has to be soft or cut really small.. I know the pain will settle down, but but she is living on scrambled egg, soup and yoghurt.. Help!

I think I had a few days of mashed potato! Try cheese and potato pie that way there’s more flavour too!

Mash, yogurt, soup. It only hurts a couple of days.

No to corn on the cob, apples and bananas.

If they're ceramic nothing that stains - curry, coffee etc

the pain subsides quickly so don’t worry too much. Soft bread sandwiches, soup, even soft meals like chilli and rice should be fine. Yoghurt and berries

Thanks everyone. I searched for topics with braces... Nothing... Until I posted, then they all popped up. You reminded me that I/we are doing OK and the pain will pass. Thanks again!

My daughter is 7 months into Damon braces. She gets 2-3 days of aching after wire tightenings but otherwise eats anything and everything! In those days it's pasta, yoghurt, soft fruit etc
