My 7 year old ds has constantly sucked his tongue from the age of 6 months.
I have tried and treid to get him to stop but have failed.
Its a real habit he has got into.
He doesn't do it when playing or occupied but tends to do it when he is resting watching the telly etc, or when going to sleep.
I am concerned about his teeth in case this affects their shape.
Visited the dentist today and he has suggested a plate that fits on the top of the mouth which will prevent him from bringing his tongue forward to suck.
The dentist has said that he has already caused his bottom teeth to come forward a bit.
atm he still has mostly his milk teeth but has a few second teeth coming.
I realise that he needs to get out of this habit now before he gets all of his adult teeth.
This plate will need to be worn most of the time.
Has anybody similar problems with their dc and has had something like this fitted.
