Just looking for some advice my baby is 6 months we've had a very busy today been out most the day he's only had a couple of cat naps here and there and he's just not settling this is the first time this has Happened when we've been out im guessing that's why he's upset cause his routine was mucked up he's just not wanting sleep at all and it's quarter to 9 we've been battling for 2 hours. Feel like crying myself any advice or maybe just stay in for the foreseeable lol

Hi OP, hope baby has settled somewhat?
What about a stroll outside in the buggy?

Ever so slightly but not overly he is teething one cut through the other day but it's so upsetting seeing him like this makes me not want to leave my house

Don't worry. If he's teething have you tried giving Calpol?

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 20/08/2023 22:01

Sing to him it will calm you down which should then calm him down?
Milk?
Walk him about the house for quick change of scenery?
Dummy?
Change nappy then bedtime routine again?

maslinpan · 20/08/2023 22:03

It's the teething which is bothering him, not the busy day. Teething hurts, but it doesn't go on forever.

Has he had a bath op?

He is 6 months, would you let him have a chew on a rusk or plain toast? Sometimes they like pressure on their gums, and the new texture can distract them, stops it hurting for a bit.

ForensicFlossy · 20/08/2023 22:10

Busy day, maybe over tired and over stimulated. Baby will settle eventually, it's tough but they will settle.

rhino12345 · 20/08/2023 22:15

Probably not enough sleep during the day (my eldest was like this!) - have you tried white noise?

AllTheWeatherAllTheTime · 20/08/2023 22:30

When mine got into this state, we used to take her out onto the balcony for a while - I think the change of air temperature and being outside did both of us good, bit of a reset.

FTM1333 · 20/08/2023 22:37

He's literally settling for 10 minute intervals then screaming and repeating I'm honestly about in tears myself he won't drink the milk he must be hungry I've been trying on and off I feel so bad

He’s six months old, I’m amazed he was going to bed at 7 to be honest. All mine were still up til we went to bed at that age. Try not to stress, it’s just one evening. Give him a cuddle in your arms and watch TV for a bit. He might settle soon

Olika · 20/08/2023 22:44

Does he calm down if you cuddle him on sofa? To me sounds like he is overtired so now he cannot sleep.

fireflyloo · 20/08/2023 23:00

Sounds like he's overtired mostly but possible teething pain on top. Some pain relief and just ride it out. Sorry no other words of wisdom! I've been there myself after baby not got enough sleep during the day.

AnxiousSandwich · 20/08/2023 23:00

I agree with previous posters. I'd try just snuggling on the sofa and not worrying about it being bedtime as such.

Mine used to get like this sometimes if they needed a poo.. sorry TMI. But it took me months to make the connection.

Hope you manage to all get some rest soon!
