Unexplained rash and nursery?

My 13 month DD has had a pinprick rash for the last 2 days but no temperature or vomiting and only a slight runny nose (had this pretty much since starting nursery). She is also pretty irritable but showing a lot of teething signs (drooling, chewing stuff) so irritability could be down to that. If she’s the same tomorrow would you send her to nursery? Could the rash be connected with teething or likely some virus?

Our nursery insist that we get unexplained rashes like that checked by a GP, so that they can confirm that it's not something contagious. In your shoes, I would try and get an early appointment tomorrow morning.

One time this happened to our DS, the GP confirmed it was just heat rash, so our nursery were then happy to take him straight after the appointment, later that morning. The second time it happened, the rash turned out to be something similar to hand foot and mouth, so we did have to keep our DS off for a few days.

If you take your DD into nursery tomorrow morning with the unexplained rash, you risk them refusing to take her until a GP has confirmed that it's not something bad (and by that point your chances of getting a same day appointment are lower than if you had phoned your GP surgery as soon as they open). Your best course of action, is getting ahead of the process and calling the GP surgery at 8.00am. Also call your nursery and explain that you're taking the child to the GP just to check that the rash isn't anything to worry about.

Fingers crossed for you that it's nothing worth keeping her home for.
