New pram mattress for second baby?

Do I need to buy a new pram mattress for my second baby? I know it is recommended to get a new one for the cot because of SIDS risk.
The pram is less than 2 years old and the mattress doesn't look like it has any dents in it. The baby won't be sleeping in it overnight, only when out on pram walks. Just wondering whether I really need to buy another mattress for the pram?

Not when it's your own babies surely? Never would have considered it, how terribly wasteful.

I wouldn't

Surely this gives you the answer?

No it doesn't, because it is not a catchall. You may spend £20 or £500 (exaggeration for effect) The former can be chucked as won't be substantial more well made, the latter will be robust and last for 10 years.

I would value the actual life of my infant over a few quid

@UnravellingTheWorld no it doesn't because if you read my OP I am not talking about the cot, I am talking about the pram.

I wouldn't get a new one in this situation OP. I would for the moses, cot etc, but not the pram.

pizzap · 19/08/2023 13:25

@OdeToBarney this is my thought as well because they are only in the pram for very short periods of time

I wouldn’t for the pram. You’ll rarely be leaving the baby in the pram without having eyes on them anyway.

MrsFionaCharming · 19/08/2023 13:31

We used our pram bassinet as a travel cot when visiting family, so I’d get a new mattress if baby is going to be sleeping in it overnight, but wouldn’t bother just for daytime naps whilst on the go.

JimmyJimmyJimmy · 19/08/2023 15:22

I didn’t. Never even crossed my mind. Didn’t get new mattresses for Moses basket, crib or cor either. 3 years 4 months between my two. They were all kept safe and dry in between and our house is smoke free.
