Just curious really how often do you buy gifts/new toys for your children if at all? I used to buy a lot more but have back due to cost and the amount of toys not played with at all. She gets a lot from relatives also. I've been trying to rotate toys more but only works for so long! Wondered what others do?

Never really.
Just guide people who ask for birthdays and Christmas, towards things that would be good.

Birthday and Christmas. I may buy some craft supplies over the holidays if they’re running low.

I don’t buy them toys outwith birthdays and Christmas generally but also stock up on arts and crafts etc also books.
they can do chores to earn extra money if they want to buy something out with that -
for one it’s video games (takes a while to save up and a lot of chores lol) and the other is extra clothes that are not needed (fashionista lol).
the others are too young to care but are happy with what we’ve got and trips to park/library/playgroups etc where they get to see different toys and books.

@Diana888 "outwith" makes me feel homesick!

Christmas, birthday and 1 or 2 through out the year if I think there's a particular toys missing that would be helpful developmentally or if I had hoped to get a particular toy for birthday/Christmas and the hint dropping didn't work. We try to save them for things like Easter or bank holiday so they get some extra time playing with them
