Toddler nightwear?

My LO is 16 months and sleeps in just a sleepsuit - she really hasn't gotten on well with sleepsacs, she moves around and wakes herself up from the constriction and similarly she moves too much for blankets but I am wondering what I should dress her in as it gets colder - just thicker sleep suits? Any recommendations? Next do a fleecy one which looks ace for really cold but too warm for autumn. Last winter we were co-sleeping and so she was warm enough in sleepsuit next to me.

i would get a toddler duvet and pillow now.
We used a sleeping bag until around 16 months, then Ds got too long and could climb out cot with it anyway. Took side off cot, added duvet

Normal PJs with a duvet and pillow at that age.

DD is 16 months too and has had a duvet for maybe 3 months as I got utterly sick of the sleeping bags too. She’s in a babygrow/sleepsuit thing and in the winter I’ll just add a vest underneath 🤷🏻‍♀️ she’s the 3rd born so maybe I am less worried about it.

wow I'm impressed a 16 month could climb out of cot in a sleeping bag!

thanks this was sort of thing I was thinking. I just don't think she'll use a duvet, she moves around a lot (like her head could be down one end cot to begin with and be down the other a few hours later and back again over course of night, she'd just tangle a duvet and get frsutrated

DD used to have pyjamas with bed socks and a vest underneath (she hated sleepsuits by that age).

But she had a duvet by 2

My now 3 year old could do this at 13 months, it was a nightmare!

At that age DD had (and now still uses at just over 2) a sleep bag but with legs. We've got footless one and will just add socks if it's colder.
She sleeps really well in them and she can walk about if she needs to

Yup, easily. He could also scale baby gates around same age.

Another consideration is potty training. Many start by 2 years, so in 6 ish months time you might need no sleeping bag so they can use toilet. So it’s expensive if new bags can only be used less than a year, where as a toddler duvet can be used until 4-6 years

Mine were still on sleeping bags till over two as they were still in cots till then. But DS was a very active sleeper like yours and moving him to.a duvet stopped him wriggling almost straight away. Not sure why but it worked!

Maryandherlamb · 18/08/2023 20:20

Pyjamas, vest and duvet for us at that age. You can get footed sleeping bags if you'd rather stick to sleeping bags. Slumber sac do them. We used them for our first but just moved on a bit quicker with our second.

Thanks all this is super useful
