Too much sleep??

Yes, please feel free to throw rotten fruit at me, I deserve it. I feel embarrassed writing this but here we are.

DD2, 14mo, absolutely loves sleep. DD1 was a pretty standard sleeper but DD2 sleeps so much more than she ever did and I'm starting to worry that it's too much?!

Example: last night DD2 went to bed at 6:45pm. She slept through till I woke her at 8.30am as we were going out. We came back at midday and I put her for a nap and she's still asleep now. I'll wake her up at 4ish if she's not awake by then and then she'll be ready for bed about 6:45/7 again. It feels like she's hardly awake some days! But if I didn't put her down for a nap or on days where we can't have a long cot nap for some reason then she's fine being awake for longer periods, but then tends to make up for it by sleeping even longer overnight.

She was a very early crawler and walker, very mobile, hitting/exceeding all milestones, great eater, very jolly personality, at nursery she will have a nap for around one hour but then will quite often sleep 14/15 hours overnight after.

Has anyone else had a really high sleep needs baby? Or is it worth getting her checked out? She had a HV appointment recently and I didn't mention the sleeping, but HV said she was exceeding milestones and was clearly a healthy, happy little girl. She's just not awake very much!

Yes, my first slept well from birth and still slept 17 hours a day at 18 months. Took him to docs as was ill first time with sickness bug and doc was shocked when he asked if he sleeps well. He looked into it and said it was "upper end of normal". Then I had a second, more normal baby. It was a shock. 😂

Ha, yes I'm glad I got it this way round or it might have been a shock to me too! Although DD1 was a pretty good sleeper, just not to this extent.

I know! It was a bit of a shock. Yours certainly did it the right way round! 😴 now ds1 is 7, he sleeps pretty well, 11/11.5 hours.
