Toys for toddlers?

My twins are 16 months old and I’m stumped with what kind of toys they might play with. Not sure whether to explore happyland or vtech toot toot or role play stuff…? Does anyone have recommendations?

Older brother didn’t play with a lot of toys, he seemed to prefer cardboard boxes and pots and pans but the twins don’t seem as fussed. He would spend a big chunk of time brumming cars and diggers and pretending to fix thing with his toy tools. I kept all that stuff for them, and whenever I get the boxes out they’re just not interested.

Trouble is you won't really know until they are playing with something that they like it or not.

Could you take them to some stay and play type things and see what they natural gravitate too?

You could also go into charity shops and buy a few bits to see if interested.

I doubt you want to spend loads of money on stuff they might not play with.

My son loved the toot toot stuff though, but he is a car/train fanatic even now at nearly 3.

This is the problem I recall with my eldest… just not knowing.

I used to take him to a stay and play session and bought a few of the toys he liked there…. Wouldn’t touch them at home. But that’s a really good idea thank you, I can take them to the same session. It's huge, any and every type of toy there.

I don’t want to spend a fortune. I’ll get what I can off vinted but it still adds up.

I found the toy subscription Whirli really good for my child when they were this age. It does cost but they have a really good range and returns/exchanges are easy.

Some toys we kept for months, others sat in the corner untouched and were swapped pretty quickly!
