How far away from birthday is party acceptable?

My ds birthday is coming up, his birthday is midweek. The venue he wants isn't available the weekend before or immediately after his birthday, but is available the weekend after that, so 10 days after his actual birthday. Would it be weird to book for then? We've always done the weekend immediately before and after in the past but didn't realise quite how far in advance we needed to book to get the right date 🙈

My ds's birthday is close to Christmas, he had his party the first week in February. Obviously we celebrated his birthday with family etc at the right time but if we'd booked his party close to his birthday none of his best friends could make it.

Absolutely fine! My DD's birthday often falls in a school holiday when we're away so we just pick the closest available date. This year it was 9 days after her actual birthday. And DS's party was 11 days later as similarly the venue wasn't available.

Completely fine.

My ds's nirthday is in August. We used to have his birthday party at a completely different time of year because school hols were a pain to do it in.

Fine. Ds2's birthday is in the school holidays and once we had the party a month afterwards due to particular disorganisation by me.

No-one cared.

DC's birthdays are September, due to being so close to to beginning of school year and few others in class having similar birthdays , i think we had one party as a halloween party end of October and one in December. They loved having 2 birthdays!

My kids birthdays are in the summer holidays. Parties are usually about 2 months after their birthdays. Thanks to lockdown we had one party that was 6 months after their birthday. Whenever works, nobody will mind.

Another august child mum here- we had a party nearly 3 wks before it to get her friends to attend. Kids don’t care!

I wouldn't give it a second thought. DD is going to a party this Sunday and the girl's birthday was sometime last week.

Thanks all - this was my thinking too, that it didn't matter and just gives him longer to look forward to it 😆 but my husband thought I was mad for considering it!
