Quick question, would you leave your children in the house if your DP was outside in the garage?

They are both sleeping and I was going to go swimming, but DP is in the middle of something he can't leave (already started glueing and it has to be done now).

He wants me to just lock the door and leave him the monitor, but it seems wrong to just leave them in the house so I am sitting here undecided.

Garage is not attached to the house its about 20 foot away.

Really?

I do want to go swimming, just keep thinking what if theres was a fire or someone broke in

But I suppose he would hear over the monitor

you will be told that he can't hear smoke on the monitor.
on the other hand i'd do it.
so no help from me!

if youd have gone swimming and your dh had wanted to work in the garage would he have locked up and gone do you think?
they are his children as much as yours and he has to be able to make decisions about their wellbeing too......sometimes you have to let themtae the initiative i think....

OrmIrian · 28/02/2008 20:08

Quick answer: yes.

LadyOfWaffle · 28/02/2008 20:09

depends how much of the house he can see... our garage is down the end of a row of about 6, so we can't see our front door, but if it's just detached and set away - yes, I think that's fine. Have the monitor, maybe pop in and just check every 15 odd mins, I don't see why not. Lveae lights on and telly.

LoveMyGirls · 28/02/2008 20:09

Would he be able to leave his thing if there was an emergency or one of them started to cry? If not I wouldn't go if he can then as long as he promised to go in the house every 20mins to check they are ok.

You're not going to be gone that long are you? Or could you wait and go another day?

RedJools · 28/02/2008 20:10

I would- you would hear a smoke alarm on the monitor!

jellies · 28/02/2008 20:11

Deffo! as long as he has the monitor!

sherby · 28/02/2008 20:13

I'm gonna go, he said he will stick his head in the door and check.

Going, going, gone

Good! I should think so too. If you can't trust DH to do the right thing with his DCs who can you trust? Enjoy!
