Anyone else with a bottle aversion / fussy feeder baby?

I have a 3 month old DS who is becoming harder as the weeks go by to feed. He has no other symptoms other than fussiness / crying on the bottle.

He has had medications for silent reflux (no help but not surprised as he showed no other symptoms)
He has had oral assessments - no tongue tie, does have a bit of a weak suck although can take a dummy absolutely fine.
He has had medications in case it’s GERD (no help again)

We think it is behavioural due to his NICU feeding tube experience - full term but not interested in feeding at start of life due to jaundice.

I have tried these feeding aversion programmes, I have tried to remove the bottle and go back to it 30 mins later, tried numerous bottles, teats, positions etc. Nothing has helped.

Luckily he is a good weight due to being born big but has dropped from 85th to 50th centile in a month.

Please tell me it gets better! Also if you had a bottle aversion baby, did solids help?

My baby completely hates bottles no matter what I try, i was advised early weaning.
Speak to your HV 😊

I clicked on this thread thinking I'd be able to help but it looks like you've already tried everything I'd suggest. We had a bad bottle feeding aversion and eventually realised tongue tie was behind it. It did take a long time after that was sorted to resolve though. We didn't follow a programme as such, just were super careful not to pressure them to feed or hurry them in any way.

Who ruled out tongue tie? I just ask because when mine was in NICU I was told he had a "gentle suck" - nope it was a 75% tongue tie!

@scrabbledabbl I have been advised to wean at 4 months but I’m not sure how I feel about it! I’m worried it’ll make his bottle aversion worse(he will prefer purees to milk)

Do you exclusively bottle feed? It’s so stressful when they just don’t like the bottle!

@Strathyre I have 2 private oral assessments as I was convinced maybe that was the cause but both said no ties but he is very tense in his jaw and mouth so seeing a cranial osteopath

I exclusively breast feed! But seriously don't worry if you aren't comfortable weaning him early then don't. As long as he is happy healthy active and alert just go with the flow. I wasted SO many months stressing and worrying about this before just accepting he doesn't like bottles and I can't force it.
