My DC is 5 months, why are all Baby clothes so small at the moment from shops. She is a chunky baby but normal looking yet in every shop she wears 9-12, sometimes 12-18. Why are so many baby clothes made for tiny babies

Are they? Ds was long baby and 9lb born. He’s always been around the size for his age or the next size. Ie at 5months would be buying 6-9/6-12 so he could grow into them, but the 3-6 things like leggings or cardigans would still have fitted, but sleepsuits as all in one would have been too short.
h and m, Zara, m and s were main brands I think at 0-12 months.

All babies are different sizes, I guess they go by average.

Just buy what fits and don't worry about the official "age size" of the clothes

We have the opposite problem, DC is 10 month and in 3-6m and only just outgrowing that.

Babies sizes vary massively so they have to pick the average. My babies always wore slightly smaller sizes for their age but are now taller than average at ages 10 and 12. Your baby is probably slightly bigger than average but so what? They all even out in the end.
