I was looking at beaming baby but have heard since that biodegradable nappies aren't quite so biodegradable after all?

Considering cloth nappies plus the biodegradable ones for traveling. Any recommendations as to how to get started on this/brands? Are they really gross to clean?

I used cloth nappies with both my children and think they're fantastic. I rinsed them every morning in the washing machine and then washed them every 3 days i think. If they were soiled I'd put the poo in the toiler and then rinse the nappy in a bucket before putting the dirty water down the toilet. Dirty nappies would be placed in a basket in the bath, and then after the morning rinse would go in a basket down stairs.

I used Little Lovebum AIO Everyday mostly. I've used quite a few brands but they were my favourite.

Some of the cheaper nappies don't always have very ethical work conditions if that's something you're interested in.

@Wanderinghome thanks for sharing! Do the rinsed cloth nappies make the bathroom smell bad? And is it quite gross to deal with these/to think about putting poop in the washing machine?

I think we're keen to use cloth nappies with biodegradable for travel/to get us started for the first few weeks.

No not at all, in all honesty they smell less than a disposable. I just had them in an open basket in the bath, so they were out of the way.

If you've rinsed the nappy then there's very little poo going into the washing machine. I've never had any nappies leak with a poo as that's more common with disposables, so I've never had to wash poo covered clothes either. Plus most people that cloth nappy clean the washing machine, rim and filter monthly shop if anything i think the washing machine is cleaner than people using disposables.
