Hi
looked at hundreds of potty’s on line and can’t find one that seems right. Reviews always state they are too small or two low at the front or uncomfortable ect.
can anyone please recommend a basic sturdy potty too me so I can get this started with the toddler b4 school holidays are over?
thanx so very much!

Literally got an ikea potty and a toilet seat off Amazon- didn’t even cross my mind to check a type or worry about comfort

We got the Baby Bjorn one with the high back as my DD is tall and it looked more comfortable. We've been happy with it.

My two hated the potty and would only use the “big girl’s toilet” - the adult one with a seat insert. I needn’t have bothered buying a potty at all.

Just go for a cheap one that's easy to clean. Ime the smaller flatter ones are better as they're more stable when toddlers flop down on them...
All 3 of my DD's wanted to empty them themselves so our smaller potty proved more popular and the step potty quickly had the potty piece removed as it was very messy when dd1 tried to remove it herself. The step itself was very useful so it wasn't wasted.

Honestly not one person I know researched which potty to get. Almost everyone I know who potty trained just grabbed one from the supermarket or from Amazon.

They are all much of a muchness and it's only used for about 5 minutes until they move to using the toilet.

Definitely have more than 1 if you can so you don't have to run from the room you're in to the room with the potty, especially if you're up and down stairs a lot... Good luck!

The ikea one from amazon. And a travel one. And a seat to put on the loo

We got this one too and it was perfect. My 4 year old still uses it sometimes.

Oh and we got the My Carry Potty for out and about. We used it lots in the early days.

yfhkvd · 08/08/2023 16:36

I vote for the Ikea one too. Cheap, still comfy for my 3.5 year old son, easy to pour wee away and easy clean.

MaggieFS · 08/08/2023 16:38

I'm a huge over thinker and I didn't even consider this. The IKEA one looked good so I bought it.

That's the one!

Babybjorn toilet seat has higher front.
Use with step and go straight to toilet, Ds was toilet trained at 2 years 2 months like this. No potty. You just will spend your life trying to stop them tipping over potty of wee or having to clean it otherwise. Plus easier out and about as used to toilet.

Ds started nursery at 2.5 years and they don’t use potty’s so it a step back if learn on potty
