DS is 6 1/2 months and I’ve only ever taken him in a carrier however that’s now becoming a struggle. He can sit fine in his high chair but cannot sit unsupported fully yet so does that mean the sit up trolley seats a no? the lay down style ones I’m guessing he’s too young as he’d be laid flat ? And I can imagine he’d be trying to sit up.

sorry if that sounds daft!

I think you can buy support things to stick on a trolley seat, but it's a very American thing! I would pop them in one baby cradle seat things!

I used to wedge mine in with a coat to support them before they could fully sit up - if they're fine in a high chair they'll be fine

Charlotteap · 03/08/2023 22:57

@toddlermum27 thank you that’s good to know! I will take something to try and wedge him in

baby carrier/ wrap is what I’ve been doing but becoming a struggle. I didn’t think of car seat for some reason you mean sit him in there In the trolley I’m guessing ?

A baby carrier shouldn't be becoming a struggle at 6 months, we used our ergo until age 2 and a half! You can get brilliant baby carriers, I wonder if you're using one only suitable for newborns?

I wouldn't put a baby who can't sit unsupported into a trolley seat, no.

TookTheBook · 03/08/2023 23:08

Another idea - you can use a pram at a supermarket that does the scan as you go scanners and put items under the pram?

YouveGotAFastCar · 03/08/2023 23:09

I wouldn't put a baby that can't sit unsupported in a trolley; no, they're not the most supportive. We did baby carrier or pram at that age, but saw lots of people attaching the car seat to the trolley.

A baby carrier doesn't work with a big trolley if you're not pretty tall to be fair... Fine for a shallow trolley shop but hard work for the big ones!

They have car seat trolleys at our local Tesco. It's la trolley with a rack on it, and you put the car seat on the rack and clip it on.

Mine were ok in the lay-down ones until 8 months (twins, not easy to get one's with 2 upright seats) as long as I kept singing/interacting with them. So people probably thought I was nuts, but as long as I shopped moderately quickly it was ok.....

I used to wedge DS into the trolley seat with a blanket when he was smaller
