Stage 3 Car Seat

DC is 2.5 years old but he’s nearly outgrown his Stage 2 car seat (he’s big, 98 percentile). I’m looking at the BeSafe iZi Flex Fix i-Size or the Nuna AACE LX. Does anyone have any thoughts on these car seats or any others they would recommend?

We have the silver cross motion 360 which I would recommend. It's up to 12 years. It swivels so you can easily put them in etc. Very happy with it.

At 2.5 he's too little to go into these seats as they only use the adult seatbelt, it wouldn't be safe. Children really need to be about four before they go into that kind of seat.

If he's getting near the limits of his harnessed seat, then you need a seat that goes up to 25kg with a harness instead. If you prefer forward facing, Joie Bold is usually the preferred one, or Cozy n Safe Hudson is a cheaper alternative. Both of these need top tether point fitting which you'll definitely have if your car is less than ten years old, if it's older you will need to check.

If you don't have top tether or you want to keep him rear facing (which is safest anyway) you can look at the 25kg ERF seats like Axkid Move or Britax Max Way Plus or Besafe izi Plus.

Any of these would get him to a better age to change to a booster seat with seatbelt. At that point, yes, the ones you've suggested are good options, but not at age two. He's much too young.

The Silver Cross recommended by a PP is a good seat but won't work for you because the 5 point harness is the same size as any other stage 2 seat.
