How awake should a 6 week old be? My daughter sleeps in 5-8 hour slot.. wakes for food and often falls back asleep on the feed, she wakes in the night for a little while but that's literally all. She's a very slow feeder I'm talking hours and hours just for one feed, recently found out she has a murmur and a hernia, second doctor visit scheduled for tomorrow morning, a few days ago 111 sent out an emergency ambulance due to her sleeping for 15 hours straight even still sleeping in feeds and not waking to loud noise ect, Her observations where fine but health visitor suggests it might be worth a referral to cardiology to check her out properly.

OP there is a huge range of normal but in light of the concerns expressed by your HV and the sleepiness and slow feeding then I would be returning to the GP today. Don’t worry about being pushy - you have unanswered questions and concerns and your baby is your priority. If the GP can’t see you or refer to paediatric A and E then take yourself there. The fact that you are worried is the most Important thing to act on. Hope all goes well.
