Eyes flickering up and down in baby

My baby is 7 weeks and today as he woke himself up from a nap trying to pass wind, his eyeballs started fluttering up and down really quickly. It was quite a scary sight. I shouldn't have googled, but I did, and now I'm terrified it's nystagmus. Has anyone experienced this before?

Oh god, both mine did that. Really alarming, I remember the hairs on the back of my neck went up! I wondered if they were fitting... It seemed to be an eye development thing as it stopped happening after a while and they are 10&13 now with perfect eyes.

My son has nystagmus, and his eyes wobble from side to side.

I can understand you being frightened, but he holds down a permanent job and has just graduated with a 2:1, so even if it was the case, it doesn’t have to hold him back.

Oh! Yes I'd forgotten but actually mine both did this too. Distinctly weird. But normal.

In a baby this young it can be quite common and they usually grow out of it. One of mine had this and another would go incredibly cross-eyed randomly. Neither did it past a few months and have perfect vision now (tweens and teens).

You've just bought back memories of my babies eyes randomly going cross eyed.

It's wind isn't it?

Just bought memories back of a thread I wrote on here 3 years ago about my DD! Totally normal, just another one of those crazy things babies do that no one warns you about 😆
