9 month old milestones?

Hi all, my daughter turned 9 months old today. I’ve been trying to get her to wave, clap, nod/shake head etc but she doesn’t do any of those. Obviously I don’t try and teach her all of this at once but is it normal for her to be doing none of that at this age? Thanks

My baby is 9 months old and he definitely doesn't wave, has tried clapping now and again at random but misses most of the time and doesn't do it on command. He only just started nodding his head in the last 2 days but again, not on demand. He just shakes it around as he is crawling which is funny to watch.

I wouldn't be any bit worried. I feel like those milestones are more spread out and happen anytime between 9 and 12months.

Hi @Gibshername i wouldn't be worried. I have a 9mo DD too and she doesn't do any of those things xx

I was told closer to 12mo for those things by my health visitor, nothing to worry about :)

I remember being worried at about that age. Mine couldn't crawl, clap, point or wave and when we were at baby groups I could see other babies her age doing all that.

At ten and a half months she suddenly learned to do all of the above in the space of a week and then when she was with other babies I felt silly for worrying because it made no difference who had done it first.

Those milestones are more like 12 months.

Thanks so much everyone, feeling better! Xx

Does she point? By 12 mo the HV are looking for a child to do at least one of 3 things; point/wave/clap. Many can do all 3 by their birthday, but some only do 1.

My son could clap from 8 months, but has just turned 2 and only just started pointing and waving socially in the last few months.

So I would say do keep modelling the bahaviour and incorporating it in your play, but there's really no need to worry at this stage.
