Chicken pox advice

My daughter was exposed to chicken pox on Thursday by a close friend. We fly on holiday in two weeks. Wondering if I should get her vaccinated- it says 3-5 days exposure online but worried I could make her ill. Would welcome some medical advice please.

Following with interest as I’m in exactly the same position. Possible exposure with my DS’s friend on Wednesday and we leave in 13 days. I hadn’t actually considered the vaccine, but would love to know people’s experiences of incubation periods and when symptoms start to show etc. NHS guidance says 1-3 weeks.
I hope you manage to swerve it! 🤞

I think it can lessen the infection, if not stop it completely. I would, if I were you.

Most seem to get it 2 weeks after exposure. If I was in your position I'd be booking in for the vaccine tomorrow morning

Thanks, I’m hoping boots have availability tomorrow. Can cope if we need to cancel the holiday but the risk is she gets it on day one and can’t do anything and she would be so upset.

I’d definitely get it. My eldest had chicken pox recently, youngest two came out with spots exactly two weeks later. One of them had it particularly badly as well. I didn’t know until after that the vaccine can lessen the symptoms even if they’ve been exposed, I’d get it for that reason alone.

It can lesson symptoms, but not contagiousness surely? I’d phone a go to be sure timing wise too. Best of luck, hope you dodge it and enjoy your holiday
