Teething or something else

Hi

For the last week my 5 month old has been funny about her feeds. Previously she would drink all her bottle no issues. But every bottle this week she had been drinking less and pushing the bottle to the side of her mouth and chewing the teat. She has days where she is very cranky and irritable. She is also chewing on anything she can.

She's on a size 3 mam teat, so it shouldn't be too slow for her.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Could it be teething. I can't see any signs of teeth coming through but she is a bugger with letting me look. She also has teething toys which I put in the fridge. I have also tried ashton and parsons teething gel but it hasn't made a difference.

First time mum a bit worried

Thanks x

2nd baby, currently 4.5months old. We are having exactly the same, he gets distracted half way through starts chewing the teat or babbling/smiling. More often then not he's not finishing his bottle, we went up to size 3 teat too but not making any difference.

Seems like early teething to me, he's putting everything in his mouth and constantly dribbling. Even if they are teething it can still take a while for the first tooth to cut.

Your little one sounds the same, don't worry you're not alone. Hopefully some others will be along to share stories too x

Look up chronic teething. It's definitely a thing.

Also, the first sign of it 100% being a tooth is the tooth itself poking through the gum. And it has a lot of distance to travel before it gets to that point. Unfortunately that's going to cause a lot of crankiness

I know this is an old post but how long did this go on for? I'm currently having the same thing with my 5 month old. Had teething symptoms for months but this week has really ramped up. He now refuses his bottles. The only way I've been getting him to drink them is either powders or Anbesol half an hour before, but even the anbesol didn't work earlier! I was just starting to relax about his feeding and now gone back to dreading his feeds! We can see the teeth through his gums but they don't look like they'll be pushing through anytime soon.

He's been bad for a week now. Surely this can't go on much longer! I just want him to drink his bottles without a problem again!
