Is this tooth decay?

Hi ladies! Basically I was brushing my son's teeth this morning and noticed he's got a brown spot on his tooth (that's the only way I can describe it) and it looks like tooth decay to me! I'm taking him the dentist but can't get a appointment till 3 weeks time! Do you think it is tooth decay? I brush his teeth twice a day, everyday. I give him cordial juice that's got nothing artificial in it and sometimes water too. He has sweets occasionally but mostly eats fruit. So I don't how his tooth is decaying and he's only 3! I feel so so bad that I've let this happen😔 extreme mum guilt! The only thing I can think of that's made it happen is he has 1 bottle of fresh cows milk every night before he goes asleep and that's the only milk I give him now. Photo isn't the best as he wouldn't sit still long enough for me to get a good picture🤣 but tried my best.

Is this tooth decay?

Are you brushing his teeth after his milk? Cows milk is high in lactose, a type of naturally occurring sugar.

No, because he falls asleep either mid drinking it or shortly after he's drank it. I also didn't know that about the milk. Maybe it is because of that then, I'm going to start brushing his teeth after his milk now.

Juice and fruit contains sugar which is bad for teeth also. Ironically The artificial drinks might be sugar free so better for teeth, but worse in other ways. So fruit with a meal is best.

Dried fruit snacks are heavy in sugar and very sticky, I’ve seen plenty of well intentioned parents being mislead by the so called healthy snacks. No snacks are healthy, well maybe carrot, cucumber or celery sticks.
It does look like active early decay but could also be an area of hypocalcified enamel.
Change to an adult strength toothpaste with fluoride and use pea sized amount. Maybe rub a little toothpaste directly onto the tooth with your finger. No rinsing after brushing.
It will be ok until your dental appointment when they can diagnose correctly.

Ok, I will do that. Thanks :)
