Best car for 3 isofix points and a big boot for dog and baby things

Hi all,

We just found out we are having a surprise third child (we were umming and aahing anyway so in a way at least the decision has been taken out of our hands!).

looking ahead, I fear our skoda octavia estate isn't going to cut it, as there are only 2 isofix points and even of we went for non isofix it would still be a massive squeeze.

so ive been doing some research but dont seem to be able to square the circle of finding a car with 3 isofix points but which also has a decent sized boot for our dog (labrador) and prams, luggage etc. friends with 3 swear by the Smax but it seems like it is being/has been discontinued. We are also considering the multimac but im not convinced by the baby seat, and I guess that would lose the possibility of putting the back seats down to go on an ikea/ gumtree trip..

the other thing is that for now it cant be only electric, as my wife is european and we tend to drive there overnight to visit grandparents in the summer holidays, and i dont feel electric is there yet...(the berlingo seemed to tick a lot of boxes despite looks, but seems to have gone electric)

ideally it would also be small enough to be used for commuting and parking, so maybe not a big VW bus, but I suspect a compromise might have to be made somewhere

so if anyone knows of a non-electric car with 3 rear isofix points and a decent boot big enough for a dog and 3 kids' worth of stuff then id be grateful to hear!

thanks!

If you have the budget for new. And it sounds like you might, I def would not discount electric. The infrastructure is here, and it’s rather better the other side of the channel. We have a Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is probably not quite big enough
for you, but point it with a 300m range and fat battery our Charging stops at rapid chargers are 10 minutes long.
The best good sized family electric out there is the Skoda Enyaq, but not sure if it does three isofix points.

I thought the xc90 was going to do it for you but it only has two isofix points. Am surprised.

We have an xc90 - currently 2 kids but planning a third, plus a big retriever. There are only 2 isofix points but even with 2 spinny seats there's plenty of room in the middle (can comfortably sit an adult) so could fit a decent size high back booster for the oldest, if you'll be at that stage, and the back row seats can go up separately so if you wanted one child in the back there's still plenty of boot space for the dog. We went for it as I think it's got more or less the most boot space with all 7 seats up - the dog would still fit, but travelling economy rather than first class!
