Kids playing out- am I being grumpy?

We live on a lovely quiet cul de sac. There are several families with similar age kids. My DD (8) goes to school with some of the kids and I often let her play out in front of the house, if I can keep an eye on them.

The problem is that at least 3 of the kids play out quite late. Sometimes 9/9.30 on a school night. My DD is in PJs by 8! They keep calling for her over and over, the other night it was 9ish.

Today she had another friend round for dinner. I said they couldn't play out because it should be all about this friend, and I don't know whether her parents would agree. The kids rang the bell 4 times! I've told them sorry she's busy, got a bit pissy and finally ignored them! They still knocked another time. Every time they call the dog barks and the constant ringing is makes her anxious (and giving me headace 🤦).

I'm worried about isolating my DD as they already think she goes to bed soooo early, and I'm the Mum who says NO. I also don't want to be 'that' neighbour but they are driving me nuts.

Do I loose my shizzle, talk to the parents or just let them be? Thanks for reading this far, maybe I just needed to rant it out 😁

I am in exactly the same position with my DD7 they call for her 2-3 times a night. I ignore it half of the time if she has already told them she doesn't want to play out.

Your child, your rules.

Just go and speak to the parents and ask them to tell their kids to stop knocking.
