How to dress baby with broken hand and big cast

My baby broke his hand at my in laws when he pulled a brass coffee table over on himself. My partner was supposed to be supervising.We've just seen a plastic surgeon for children but luckily they think just a cast is ok.

It's huge. Like a boxing glove.

I normally put vests under everything. How do I dress him?

Poor poppet! Can you cut the wrists of the baby vests so they stretch over the cast? My son had his leg in a cast for months when he was a baby but the legs tend to be poppered so that made it easier.

How old is baby, and are you handy with a needle and thread?

If baby is young enough to just live in sleepsuits for a while, could you cut into the sleeves of some sleepsuits and add buttons?

Also - dungarees.

When dc broke her arm, we just cut up some of her knit clothing. It doesn’t fray.

Just cut one of the sleeves off every vest. Babies grow so fast, the vests will be useless in a few months anyway.

Poor love. Has the skin broken, as if so you may find he gets itchy inside the cast as it heals, if so then Piriton may help. Also you can get protective plastic cast covers for bathing (you still can’t put the cast in water but the cover protects it from splashes).

Yes, the skin is broken. The hand was about crushed which was why we met with sick kids plastic surgeon but they decided non surgical route thank God x

I sewing required, just cut vests/T-shirts at the shoulder seam then use a plastic snap fastener kit like the one below to add some poppers.

It won't be pretty but it will be quick, easy and so the job
