It's an eating one...

6 year old son has never had the biggest appetite and always got by on small portions, literally since weaning. He just doesn't eat much.

I'm really really at the end of my tether now as it's getting extreme. He is so so so fussy and if it's not "crap" he's not interested. I try to cook homemade food everyday - stuff like pasta bakes, cottage pie, lasagne etc and he just stares at it. He'll nibble bits and pieces and continually ask "is that enough". We have tried everything from "it's your decision when you're full" to "you need to eat more" etc etc

We never allow "afters" if he hasn't eaten much. He's otherwise full of energy and isn't underweight (which shocks me to the core)

How to I get him to eat?!

I don’t think you can, keep his food aside until hungry later or make the meal he’ll eat- I don’t get how the younger generations are so fussy- I never remember me or my friends being so fussy.

I don't know if the correct thing is to let him be hungry? Offer beige but none nutritious food. I don't want him to make himself poorly but this is nuts!

I really don't want to make him nuggets everyday. I don't want to be a house with 3 different meals on the go. I just want him to enjoy some healthy foods. Even fruit is a battle! What kid doesn't like fruit??

He's always ate the same as us from day one so I have no idea how or why he is like this

What foods will he eat?

What foods will he eat?

Honestly? Rubbish only. Think chips or pizza.

If I ask what he would want - he says Sunday roast. But then will only really eat the roasties, Yorkshire puddings and minimal amounts of meat.

He also likes "picky" food such as sandwiches and crisps type packed lunch foods.

I've managed to get him eating grapes this week and will sometimes eat apple or orange but again, will have a tiny amount and be "full"
