Eczema, baby acne or heat rash?

DD is 5 weeks old has had a spotty rash on her face for the past two weeks, it's definitely getting worse each day. Went to GP, and he dismissed it saying it was normal, although it's got much worse since and now spreading down neck and chest. It gets worse when she feeds or has been asleep on my chest so wondering if heat rash, as seems to be also worse when she is fussing or crying and settles when she is calm. She has also got cradle cap on her eyebrows.

Anyone had something similar? Did you just leave it to clear or put something like Aveeno baby cream on it?

Hi! New here, registered just for this post! My DD is 5 weeks and also has now developed this? Freaking out as thinking could be hives from breastfeeding as looks just like this! But also forms when crying. What was your end result? What happened? So scared it’ll scar her face!

Hi @Cmuxx wow seeing this photo again of my DD I can't believe this was ever her skin. It cleared up all on its own maybe a week or so after this post and she has had perfect skin ever since and no scars whatsoever. I never ended up putting anything on it and it just went away all by itself. I definitely think it was just her body adjusting to life on the outside. Try not to worry, I googled relentlessly to work out what to put on it but in the end the best thing was for me to just leave it alone as it never bothered her at all and then it just disappeared one day and never came back.

How funny! You know what, I’ve only just read the year you posted! In hopes you had a beautiful year with DD. 😋

This is so reassuring. We went to A&E where they weren’t worried at all but saw my worries and I’m sure didn’t want to invalidate it so they observed her and they said we were fine to go home with no conclusion really. (Me thinking it could be hives) I was seconds away to book into a private hospital to see a rash specialist; however, I am seeing this is a common phenomena in EBF little ones around the 6-week mark! Some spots are yellow with so now actually assuming it is cradle cap.

May I ask one more question if not too invasive? Did your LO ever develop eczema from this?

Thanks so much!!!! x

No she didn't which I was really surprised about as I have eczema so was expecting the spots to almost be the start of it, but at the moment (touch wood) other than a bit of nappy rash she has the most perfect skin.

Hope it clears up soon for your DD x
