Just that really. Looking for some inspiration before I place the delivery order for the weekly groceries!

These threads make me feel so bad about myself as a parent. Why doesn't my toddler eat balti and saag, or fish, or any other nice thing I try? Why haven't I prepared a sweet potato curry for the weekend? It's usually either pasta or sausages here 😒

Don't feel bad. We have a staple diet of pasta and sausage here as well. I've tried and tried but they won't eat anything else

kernowpicklepie · 14/07/2023 12:17

Last night we had pizza with salad.
Tonight we're having Cornish pasties probably with salad again.

Tbh, I just give DD (2) whatever we eat and she usually eats pretty well. She does have days where she doesn't eat much but I don't offer anything else. I'll wait until later and if she's still hungry then she'll ask for toast or something.

Mine is a terrible eater too 😢

If it makes you feel better, my toddler only eats vegetables in theory - but my much older two eat pretty much everything and anything. By 9 or 10 they were pretty adventurous and happy to eat a sensible range of food.

There’s no point stressing too much through the ornamental vegetables years.

@atthebottomofthehill Don’t feel bad! Sausages and pasta are fine!!
I work FT and DH works away for weeks at a time so I batch cook meals for toddler and I. That’s the only reason things are planned in advance 🤣👍🏻 it’s all bagged up and frozen ready to pull out and stick a microwave rice on while it heats up!

Whatever we are having. No idea why you'd make them their own meal. Curry, spaghetti, stir fry, salmon and veg, risotto.

Who said she was making something separately? Is there really a need for such a superior sounding post?

Mixedmixed · 14/07/2023 17:11

Some shi*e from the freezer tonight.

Zelda93 · 14/07/2023 18:15

Cuwins · 14/07/2023 18:18

Sausage, mash, carrots and mushrooms- ate the sausage, some mash and completely ignored the veg as usual!
Age 17m

IncomingTraffic · 14/07/2023 18:18

I’ve ordered pizza. So that’s what everyone is having tonight. No smug superiority here!

GlitterSneakers · 14/07/2023 18:22

Yesterday was bolognaise with macaroni pasta & peas on the side

Today it’s a mild chicken curry with rice
Cucumber, mango and tomatoes on the side

AliceTheCamelHasFiveHumps · 14/07/2023 18:22

Mackerel, broccoli, rice and a babybel

Abouttimemum · 14/07/2023 18:24

Fish cake and veg (carrots, broccoli, green beans, sprouts) Pretty uninspiring end of the week type thing!

That’s what we’re ordering as soon as DS is in bed!

Purplerainpurplesky · 14/07/2023 18:34

Salmon and pea pasta but he won't eat mixed up food or food with sauce, so plain pasta, peas and salmon separated on the plate a small scoop of mixed up pasta same as ours on the side to try

Ostryga · 14/07/2023 18:37

Roast chicken thigh, cucumber, lettuce and a bit of pasta with butter on. Nothing touching! Salad will be chucked in the bin in 20 mins 😂

NoHallSouth · 14/07/2023 20:07

Mine had sweet potato mash with peas and fish fingers and a petit filous tonight.

Last night we all had roast beef, roasties, veg and gravy. (I have to cut the beef up and mush it into the potatoes a bit to help him eat it!)

WeightoftheWorld · 14/07/2023 20:11

Cheddar cheese toastie (white bread) - about one and a half pieces of bread. Small amount of thinly sliced cucumber. About half a packet of tomato flavoured baby crisps.

Don’t feel bad! Some days my kids eat lovely well rounded healthy meals and snacks, today my toddler had a bag of skips for lunch and for dinner about 3 mouthfuls of Brocolli

YukoandHiro · 14/07/2023 20:14

Breaded chicken, rice and broccoli

MsSquiz · 14/07/2023 20:18

Probably not helpful for inspiration but our 2 (3.5 & 1.5 years) have eaten this week, for dinner:
Cheesy pesto pasta with peas
A picnic tea (with definitely too many wotsits) and birthday cake
Cheesy beans on toast
Tomato pasta with garlic bread and salad
Chicken teddy bears, alphabetti spaghetti & toast

Pudding has been a mix of fruit, ice lollies, ice cream, rice cakes & yoghurt

The youngest always eats more than the oldest at the moment

RosaSkye · 14/07/2023 20:19

Lasagne

staples here are-

tuna jacket potato
sausage & mash
beans on toast
cheesy pasta
baked white fish with veg

middle of the road I guess!

febbabies2023 · 14/07/2023 20:22

Well, I made him chicken, fondant potato and veg (sweetcorn, carrots, peas and cauliflower)
What he actually ate was half the chicken, the peas and sweet corn
Had 2 little yoghurts after

Told me he was still hungry so had raisins and a nutrigrain bar

Didn't even try the potato little twerp 🙄

Sending hugs. HG and dealing with a child is the most difficult thing ever. I hope to get some relief soon. My son lived off fish fingers, potato waffles and peas when I had HG. I tried to find food that didn't smell too much or I had to physically cook.
Please don't feel bad. 🫂
