we will be getting a nappy voucher from the council soon and I was thinking of getting some pocket nappies or all in one snap in nappies. which should i get? my husband hates poppers and wants velcro. also do you REALLY have to remove the insert prior to washing? we would use them mostly for nursery days and when she comes back i do not want to empty them all out of the wet bag and fish mingy inserts out. would rather jsut put the whole bag in as i do jsut now. mommys touch looked good for this but is popper fastening. please help!!!

are snap in ones a bit like fluffles but with waterproof instead of fluff?

bumgenius pockets have velcro tabs and I know a few people who swear by them.

Momma's Touch are poppered but the inserts come out in the wash, but I don't know what they are like.

the nappy peeps will be along shortly to help you out.

I have just gained a new found lova of fuzzibunz, but they are poppered.

oops should have read more carefully

You could request your nursery removes the insert before they plop it in the bag - i have never asked tbh but seems a good idea as sometimes there a bit yuk when someone is lazy and hasnt turfed out the poo lol! Awww yes you release the insert and thats it - anyone will know i love pockets so perhaps totally biased lol! Mommys touch easy clean do come in velcro touch tape fastening but i have no idea where you would get them from - perhaps you would have to get via the usa as uk wholesaler only seems to have popper ones.

I have a popper mt easy clean and i find it very reliable - just the nursery struggle as it has poppers everywhere!
Hope that help

bumgenius all the way.
Best to remove inserts - removing inserts is no big deal!!

ravenAK · 24/02/2008 22:00

I prefer totsbots & a separate wrap tbh, although we do have some pocket ones & they're good for stuffing then leaving for babysitter/MIL/anyone else who is likely to cock up putting on an ordinary washable!

I'm not that keen because someone has to fish out the stinky insert - if I wash them with it still in (eg. if dh 'forgets' to remove insert...), then they tend to come out still smelly.

I'd definitely go for poppers not velcro, I'm afraid. Velcro's too easy for dc to undo!

I have some mommy's touch and i love em! It doesnt worry me about pulling the insert out as the opening is quite large

Liz79 · 24/02/2008 22:13

i wouldn't mind taking out the insert as i take it off my baby, its putting my hand in the wet bag which contains a days worth of dirty nappies. yuk. would rather jsut put wet bag in machine . will maybe jsut have to ask nursery to remember! we are using fluffles and bamboozles at the mo. my line of thinking is the same as ravenAK.

I put each nappy in a zip lock food bag before putting in the big bag iykwim then there is no leakage and no mess

Nappyzone · 24/02/2008 22:23

really olivia - wow im such a dirt bag lol!

oliviaelanasmum · 24/02/2008 22:25

I reuse the zip lock bags so they dont get wasted! It's just easier as dppractically flushes the whole nappy away as well as the poo!

Liz79 · 24/02/2008 22:34

nappyzone - mommys touch uk site makes no mention of teh touch tape version but i have seen them on the american site, and linked to an online shop which ships internationally. however i doubt they will accept my cumbrihink of than nappy voucher! will maybe sell some bamboozles, but mommys with cash and something else with my voucher. I think i saw nature babies stuffables are velcro as are d'lish. what do people these?

I found my nursery had more problems fitting a pocket nappy properly than a two parter so if your reason to get pockets is just to make things easier for others to change your LO you may find you end up with problems. The problem I found with pockets is that you haev to get the fit absolutely right or you'll get leaks or marks on legs. I didn't have any problems fitting them but others who rarely changed her (DH), or changed many other babies as well as her could never get the settings right (esp on the Mommy's Touch - which I got leaks with anyway btw). It meant I had to send in 2 changes of clothes for a day at nursery just in case of leaks. Two parters are much less trouble.

I agree that you really do need to remove the insert before washing or it will get stinky (esp a microfibre insert)

You can get velcro mommy's touch on ebay US or direct from mommy's touch US site - just watch out for postage from USA but good exchange rates mean bargains can be had.

what about itti bitti nappies and other snap in ones? do you need to detach the booster part before washing?

I never remove inserts first - they tend to come out in the wash. The only ones I do yank it slightly out of the hole are minkis.

I bought a few bumgenius for nursery and they were fine with them.
