Parent drove my DD without a seatbelt

DD is 11. This parent took out a group of 4 friends including my DD out for a few hours.

No seatbelt in middle seat. DD asked for where it was. Parent said ‘oh we don’t have one there, just hold on’

Distance was 3 miles there with my DD no seatbelt.

3 miles back with another child sat in that middle seat with no seatbelt.

I’m shocked anyone could be so stupid especially with other people’s children.

I want to make other children’s parents aware this happened.

I will be having some strong words with the parent about thinking it fine not to use a seatbelt for my child.

also feel like reporting to the police.

what would you do?

You tell them your child will never be going in the car with them again so they should never offer a lift, ever. And you let the other child's parents know.

I agree

Over 30 years ago I had a friend who was involved in a car accident. She was sitting in the middle of the back seat and was the only person in the car without a seatbelt (because the car wasn't fitted with one, as was common in those days).

No one was speeding (it was in a town centre so no-one was driving faster than 30mph). No one was drunk. The accident was just one of those things. My friend was killed. Everyone else walked away with bruises.

If it was made without seatbelts then its legal; even if its not safe
